Before launching M&M, founder Doug Moncure worked for another roofing company and didn’t like what he saw. Employees weren’t paid fairly, suppliers waited too long for their checks, and customers often felt ignored.
Doug wanted something better. His vision was simple: build a company that cares for everyone it touches, including employees, suppliers, and homeowners alike. Integrity and respect would guide every job.
Humble Beginnings in Houston
Doug officially opened M&M Roofing, Siding, and Windows in 1983, focusing on residential re-roofing. At first, he faced skepticism because of his youth. He was just a young buck in those days!
But he didn’t let his youth stop him.
Hurricane Alicia swept through Houston the same year, damaging countless homes and leaving thousands of residents desperate for help. Larger companies struggled with long waiting lists and were not able to give Houston residents the new roofs they so desperately needed.
Doug proved himself by responding quickly and delivering outstanding work. That storm turned out to be a pivotal moment, helping M&M earn credibility and build a loyal customer base.
Service Expansion to Meet Homeowner Needs
As the business gained momentum, Doug broadened M&M’s offerings to better serve homeowners:
- 1987: Siding services joined the lineup, giving customers a one-stop solution for exterior upgrades.
- 1990: Window installations were added to improve energy efficiency and curb appeal.
